My Inspiration

I wrote Sigmund and the Land Beyond for my young children at a time when I was traveling weekly for work.   I wrote in airports, airplanes, and hotels, reading my kids new chapters at bedtime when I would return home again.  As I wrote, the story played in my head like a movie. My goal in writing was to have my kids also see a movie play in their minds. 

Fast forward to 2025, when I committed to publishing my book.   Now the world has AI – seen as either a blessing or a curse, depending on who you ask. On a whim, I decided to try my very inexperienced hand at bringing my characters to life through AI animation.  I’m sure that most of my readers are far more technologically adept than me, so this was a trial-and-error process (lots and lots of error!)   It was both fun and frustrating, and I had to keep a sense of humor through the multitude of blooper results.  My family enjoyed my errors as much as my successes, perhaps even more – so much so that I decided to release a “blooper reel” on my website.   I hope the blooper reel will have you laughing along with us.

I hope the characters and story come alive in your imagination as vividly as they did in mine.  While the animations add a playful touch to my website, I urge you not to let AI alter your own amazing imaginations as you read the story of Sigmund and the Land Beyond.
